24) rispetto agli interventi messi in atto.

  1. Understanding COSC Accreditation and Its Importance in Watchmaking
COSC Certification and its Demanding Standards
Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres, or the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres, is the official Swiss testing agency that certifies the accuracy and accuracy of timepieces. COSC validation is a symbol of excellent craftsmanship and dependability in chronometry. Not all watch brands seek COSC validation, such as Hublot, which instead sticks to its proprietary demanding criteria with mechanisms like the UNICO, reaching similar accuracy.

    The Art of Precision Timekeeping
The core mechanism of a mechanical timepiece involves the spring, which supplies power as it loosens. This mechanism, however, can be susceptible to environmental factors that may influence its precision. COSC-accredited mechanisms undergo demanding testing—over 15 days in various conditions (five positions, three temperatures)—to ensure their resilience and dependability. The tests measure:

Mean daily rate accuracy between -4 and +6 seconds.
Mean variation, maximum variation levels, and effects of thermal variations.
    Why COSC Accreditation Matters
For timepiece enthusiasts and collectors, a COSC-accredited watch isn’t just a piece of technology but a demonstration to lasting excellence and accuracy. It represents a timepiece that:

    Presents exceptional dependability and accuracy.
Offers assurance of superiority across the complete construction of the watch.
Is probable to hold its value more effectively, making it a wise investment.
    Well-known Timepiece Manufacturers
Several famous manufacturers prioritize COSC accreditation for their timepieces, including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, and Longines, among others. Longines, for instance, provides collections like the Archive and Spirit, which feature COSC-validated mechanisms equipped with advanced materials like silicon equilibrium springs to boost durability and efficiency.

Historical Background and the Evolution of Timepieces
The idea of the timepiece originates back to the requirement for precise chronometry for navigation at sea, emphasized by John Harrison’s work in the 18th century. Since the formal foundation of Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres in 1973, the accreditation has become a yardstick for assessing the accuracy of luxury watches, maintaining a tradition of excellence in horology.

    Conclusion
Owning a COSC-certified timepiece is more than an visual choice; it’s a dedication to excellence and precision. For those valuing accuracy above all, the COSC certification provides peace of mind, ensuring that each accredited watch will function dependably under various circumstances. Whether for individual satisfaction or as an investment, COSC-validated timepieces distinguish themselves in the world of watchmaking, maintaining on a legacy of careful chronometry.

  4. When is a cheese not what it seems? When it’s a
    fake parmesan.

Italy’s renowned parmigiano reggiano, favoured for finishing off bowls of pasta and rocket salads, is
one of the most counterfeited cheeses in the world.

Now its manufacturers have found a new way to hit back against the lookalikes:
    by adding microchips.

The move is the latest innovation from the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium (PRC), the association which oversees production, which has been trying for
a century to fight off cheaper imitations that do not
follow the exacting requirements to make the real deal.

The cheese, which can trace its history back to the middle ages, gained the EU’s
prized protected designation of origin (PDO) status in 1996.
Under those rules parmigiano reggiano – the only kind which can be called parmesan within Europe – must be made
in a small part of northern Italy, including in the provinces of
    Parma and Reggio Emilia.
